Pharmacology (Mechanism of action):

It inhibits the action of plasmin and acts as a coagulant. It mainly prevents bleeding.

Available dosage forms:

• Transamine 250 mg capsule

• Transamine 500 mg capsule

• Transamine 250 mg injection

• Transamine 500 mg injection

• Transamine S injection

Indications:

• Leukaemia

• Hypostatic anaemia

• Abnormal bleeding (pulmonary, nasal, renal, genital or after prostate surgery.

• Urticaria, eczema, day rash, toxic exanthema (erythema, swelling or itching)

• Pharyngolaryngitis, tonsillitis (Pharyngodynia, redness, hyperemia or swelling)

• Stomatitis pain in mucosal aphtha or oral cavity.

• Post-partum haemorrhage

• Dental extraction in patients with haemophilia.

Dosage and administration:

Transamine 250 mg injection:

Adult dose:

1-2 ampoules (5-10ml) divided in 1-2 times a day IV/IM.

During or after operation, 2-10 ampoules (10-50ml) at a time is given

by IV drip infusion.

Transamine 500 mg injection:

Adult dose:

2.5-5ml divided in 1-2 times a day IV/IM. During or after operation 5-10 ml IV or 2-25 ml at a time is given by IV drip infusion.

Dose Adjustments:

Dose adjustments required for renaly impaired patients

Adverse drug reactions:

• Hypersensitivity

• Digestive problems

• Dermatologic problems

• Convulsions

• Drowsiness

• Retinal changes (in dogs)

Interactions:

• With coagulant drugs

  
  

Contra-indications:

• In patients with acquired defective color vision

• In patients with sub-arachnoid haemorrhage

• In patients with active intravascular clotting

Side effects:

• Anorexia

• Nausea/vomiting

• pyrosis

• Itching

• Store below 30 degree celcius.

• Protect from sunlight and moisture
